Legacy Orders: Recording Pre-System Sales
The Problem
You switched to BarSight, but what about all those sales from before? A customer calls wanting a refund on a keg they bought last month—before you started using the system. Without that order in BarSight, you can't process the return properly or track the inventory coming back.
The Solution
Legacy Orders let you record historical sales that happened before BarSight was implemented. The system automatically creates the necessary inventory records when you close the order, so you can process refunds and returns just like any other sale.
How to Use It
- Go to Brewery > Orders
- Click New Order, then select New Legacy Order
- Select the Customer and enter the original Order Date
- Click Create Legacy Order
- Click Add Item and select the Product and Package Group
- Enter the Quantity, Price, and Tax
- When ready, click Ship Order or Close Order

How It Works
Unlike regular orders, legacy orders don't require existing inventory. When you close or ship the order, BarSight automatically creates the stock records behind the scenes. This means you can immediately process refunds, returns, or deposit credits on historical sales.
Pro Tip
Legacy orders display an orange (Legacy) badge so you can easily identify them. Once closed, they behave exactly like regular orders—you can reopen them, process partial refunds, or handle deposit returns.
