Merge Product Recipes
One powerful feature at a time.
Merge Product Recipes
The Problem
When you import products and sales data from another system, BarSight creates a placeholder recipe named "Imported" to keep everything connected. Once you've set up your real recipe with proper ingredients and steps, that empty imported recipe just clutters up the product page, and your sales history still points at it.
The Solution
Recipe merging combines two recipes of the same product into one. Every batch and every packaged stock record moves from the recipe you remove to the one you keep, and the old recipe disappears. Your reports stay accurate, and your recipe list stays clean.
How to Use It
- Go to Brewery → Recipes and open the product
- In the Recipes box, open the three dot menu on the recipe you want to remove (the imported one) and choose Merge Recipe
- Check the Merge INTO Recipe dropdown. It is pre-selected to the closest name match, so make sure it is the recipe you want to keep
- Click Merge Recipes and confirm
Several placeholders on one product? Tick them and choose Bulk Actions → Merge Selected in the Recipes box.

What Gets Moved
- All batches linked to the old recipe
- All packaged stock from those batches, and the order lines that sold it
Pro Tip
Direction matters. The recipe you remove is deleted along with its steps and ingredients, so always merge the "Imported" placeholder into your real recipe, never the other way round. This cannot be undone.
