Merge Duplicate Customers to Clean Up Your Database

One powerful feature at a time.

Merge Duplicate Customers to Clean Up Your Database

The Problem

You've got two customer records for "Craft Beer Corner", one spelled correctly and one as "Craft Ber Corner" from a typo or an import. Each has its own orders and its own deposit balance. When you want their complete order history or how much beer they bought this year, you are looking at two incomplete records, and your sales reports are split the same way.

The Solution

The Merge Customers feature combines two customer records into one. Every order, visit note and deposit record moves to the customer you keep, the notes are combined, and the duplicate is removed. One customer, one history, one deposit balance.

How to Use It

  1. Navigate to Brewery → Customers
  2. Open the three dot menu on the row of the customer you want to remove and choose Merge Customer. You can also open that customer and click Merge Customer in the toolbar.
  3. In the Merge Into dropdown, pick the customer you want to keep
  4. Click Merge and confirm

Several duplicates of the same customer? Tick them all, then choose Bulk Actions → Merge Selected to merge them into one survivor in a single step.

Pro Tip

The customer you open is the one that disappears, and the one you pick in the dropdown keeps its own address, contacts and settings. If the duplicate has a better address or a contact you need, copy it onto the survivor first. This action cannot be undone.
